As did I for most of my first fandoms, which is exactly why I won't turn style off - if I'm going to go back in time, I might as well get the full experience.
It'd be like trying to go back to the 80s, but editing out the aquanet, scrunchies, flannel, and fluorescent spandex. It's just not true to that special "Blind Monkey with a Keyboard and a Bottle of Bourbon" school of website design.
